Molecular biotechnology explains the molecular aspects of basic biochemical processes in living organisms in relation to their use in biotechnology. This course has a close relationship on the basics of protein science and engineering. There are several topics designed into this course: process of inheritance and protein synthesis, chemical and physical properties of amino acids and proteins, protein folding, protein three-dimensional structure, and structure-function relationship of proteins and enzymes. In the latter part of the lecture, students will also be introduced to the latest researches that have been conducted on the structure-function relationships of several biologically and biotechnologically important enzymes.
