Dear all,

We will have a luncheon seminar by Assistant Prof. Nobutaka Fujieda on October 19, 2009. The seminar will start at 12:10 in a meeting room (# 503) on 5F of the GSE Common EAST (U1E) building (Kohso-toh).
Title and abstract of his lecture are shown below.

  • Title: Rational Design of Metalloproteins to Construct Robust Biocatalysts
  • Abstract: The design of new enzymes for reactions not catalyzed by naturally occurring biocatalysts is a challenge for protein engineering, and is of great practical interest, with potential applications in biotechnology, biomedicine and industrial processes. Here, I will explain the methods of protein engineering, in particular, the structure-based design of enzymes and fluorescence proteins and discuss the possibility of the rational design of metalloenzyme based on the biomimetic and synthetic chemistry.

Nishizawa and Suenobu
